Summary

The diagnostic features of this app send nothing anywhere. Everything they read stays on your device. The app does, however, display ads supplied by Google AdMob, and the advertising SDK collects data of its own. That distinction is the whole of this policy.

What the app accesses

Camera hardware description. The app reads CameraCharacteristics — the technical description your device publishes about its cameras: hardware support level, supported capabilities, resolutions, sensor and lens values. This requires no permission and involves no images.

Camera access, only on request. The "Live verification" screen opens a real capture session to measure whether the device delivers what it declares. This requires the CAMERA permission, which is requested at that moment and nowhere else. During these tests:

• no preview is displayed,
• no image is written to storage,
• no frame is retained — every frame is drained and discarded immediately.

Only metadata (such as the ISO value reported back by the sensor) and timing are measured. Every screen except this one works without the camera permission.

Advertising

The app displays ads through Google AdMob. To do this, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares the following with Google:

• Approximate location, derived from your IP address
• App interactions — your interaction with the ads shown
• Diagnostic information — app and SDK performance data
• Device or other identifiers — the Android advertising ID, the App Set ID, and where applicable identifiers relating to signed-in accounts on the device

This data is used for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. It is processed by Google, not by the developer of this app, and is governed by Google's own policies:

• How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services

The advertising SDK also adds these permissions to the app: INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, READ_BASIC_PHONE_STATE, WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE and the Android AdServices permissions (advertising ID, topics and attribution). None of them are used by the camera diagnostics.

Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent form from Google's User Messaging Platform is shown the first time the app runs. Your answer decides whether the ads you see are personalised.

Declining personalisation does not remove ads: you continue to see non-personalised ads, and the data listed above is still collected for the purposes stated. The app provides no setting that switches advertising off.

Your choices

• Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. This is handled by Android, not by this app.
• Deny the camera permission. Only the live verification screen stops working; everything else continues to function.
• Uninstall the app. This removes everything it stored on your device.

What the app stores

On your device only:

• your theme choice (system, light or dark),
• snapshots you explicitly save, which contain the technical camera facts described above and a timestamp.

Both live in the app's private storage, are never uploaded, and are removed when you uninstall the app.

What the app never reads

Accounts, contacts, precise location, your photos, or the contents of any camera frame. The diagnostic features read no identifier of any kind. Exported reports contain the device manufacturer and model name only — no serial number, no IMEI, no advertising ID.

Sharing reports

Reports in JSON, Markdown and CSV are created only when you tap an export option, and are handed to the app you choose through the Android share sheet. Nothing is sent automatically. What happens to a report after you share it is governed by the app or service you shared it with.

Security

All data collected by the Google Mobile Ads SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. The diagnostic features transmit no data at all.

Retention and deletion

The developer of this app holds no user data and therefore has none to retain or delete. Data collected by the advertising SDK is retained by Google under Google's policies; you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time through Android Settings as described above.

Children

This app is a technical diagnostic tool and is not directed at children. Because it serves advertising, it is not suitable for use by children without an adult, and it should not be used to collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
